Ideas For A Wholesome Sunday Morning
Brick Lane Flea Market & Breakfast
Although full to bursting seven days a week with eclectic market stalls, Sunday marks the weekly Sunday UpMarket at Old Truman Brewery. The perfect distraction from the wet weather whilst digging through an abundance of treasures, including quirky vintage textiles, teetering towers of vinyl, and offerings from local craftsmen.
Arguably the best thing about Brick Lane is the variety of culinary delights on offer. If the infamous Brick Lane Bagels aren’t your vibe, we’d highly recommend a Cardamon Roll and Cappuccino from the artisanal Fabrique Bakery found just round the corner on Gaffrye Street.
A Spot of Culture at the National Gallery
With current regulations limiting overcrowding in galleries and museums, there’s never been a better time to plan a quiet visit to The National Gallery. Housing one of the world’s finest collections of paintings, you can enjoy a slow and peaceful morning taking in the work of the masters. Take a friend, or book in some quality ‘you time’, but make sure to go see Bridget Riley’s full wall ‘Messengers’ installation. Transforming Annenberg Court’s vast white walls, Riley’s masterpiece is designed to “make you feel alive, to have a kind of joy in feeling alive”. If that’s not the perfect feeling for a Sunday morning, then we don’t know what is!
Booking is free, with spots available for this Sunday from 10 am https://my.nationalgallery.org.uk/4291/4334
Spin and Smoothie at Psycle
Start your day off with the ultimate feel-good buzz by joining one of Psycle’s infamous spin classes. The high-energy classes pack in upbeat music that will have you singing along under the disco lights whilst sweating out last night’s cocktails. For even more of a boost, we’d recommend booking in with Kristina at Clapham Junction, our fave for a dose of motivation and self-love, alongside a killer playlist of course.
Don’t forget to order one of their delicious smoothies from the on-site Energy Kitchen; the ultimate post-workout pick me up!
Classes start at £10 for new members https://psyclelondon.com
Peckham Car Boot Sale
The car boot sale is having a comeback, and we could not be happier about it. Our current favourite, and well worth the travel time from any part of London, is the monthly set up at the Harris Academy in Peckham. If you’re looking for retro clothing, vintage homeware, or just have general magpie tendencies, then there’s something for you. The blast of nostalgia and wonderment at the offerings is guaranteed to bring some cheer to anyone’s Sunday morning.
A lot of stalls do have covers to shelter from any rain that comes our way this weekend, but take an umbrella just in case. If like us, you’ve been doing a major clear-out over lockdown, it’s also a great place to book your slot as a seller (spots for June are all booked up, but check out their Instagram for more info on how to book).
Open rain or shine, 10.30-2 this Sunday 27th June https://www.instagram.com/peckham.carboot/
