Dog Friendly Places in London to Bring Your Four-Legged Pooch

Fancy a trip out in London but not sure where you can take your dog?

Dining with your dog is easier than ever in London now as dog-friendly restaurants have increased in popularity. Some restaurants also have pawesome dog-specific menus so your four-legged friend can even dine with you!

Egerton House Hotel, Knightsbridge

Doggy Afternoon Tea, anyone? Egerton House Hotel takes ‘dog-friendly restaurant’ to new levels with a separate pup-focused menu. Pamper your pooch with chicken liver meatloaf, peanut butter biscuits, and a carrot cupcake, or go for the Dogtini, featuring a homemade chicken consommé martini and crudités (while you nibble on more traditional afternoon tea delicacies). Do good: an optional £2 will be added to your bill to go to the award-winning charity DOTS (dogs on the street).

L’Escargot, Soho

Furry folk will be glad to hear that L’Escargot welcomes dogs of all sizes, offering all pooches free snacks and water for as long as they’re ‘dining’. The restaurant also has its very own resident English bulldog called Doris, who often pops out to say hello to diners, which could lead to a serious case of puppy love.

Although currently closed for refurbishment, the establishment will be re-opening their doors on the 10th May 2023.

Megan's, Multiple Locations

It’s impossible to escape four-legged friends at Megan’s, whether it’s dogs-galore at weekend brunch or the stylish pups in sunglasses on their website. The popular chain is supposedly working on a separate doggy menu, and already supplies water, beds and treats for dogs at all locations.

Bring your four-legged best friend with you on your next visit for lunch or dinner at Gaucho (excluding The O2). All well behaved dogs are welcome (as per our dog rules) whether you’re joining us for a family Sunday roast or relaxed catch up with friends

If you’re looking to celebrate your doggy in style, then head to the Hampstead branch of steakhouse group Gaucho on the first Sunday of every month. If you book a table under your dog’s name and quote ‘Doggy Sunday’, Gaucho will roll out the red carpet for your pooch, entertaining them on the outdoor terrace while gracing all pups with gifts, treats and even a bowl each of specially made paw-secco.

Bellanger, Islington

At this classy yet casual brasserie, dogs and their owners are welcome to roam around the terrace or to cosy up in a booth by the bar. Your mutt will be kept happy with a bowl of water and some dog biscuits which are made in-house, while you can keep yourself entertained with Bellanger’s all-day selection – think everything from buttermilk pancakes and waffles to a grilled fish of the day served fully garnished.

Both Brutto (and Polpo) founder Russell Norman and his restaurant manager Monique Sierra are proud dog owners, so it seems natural that the Florentine trattoria welcomes pups with open arms – there’s even a new dog-focused logo. If you’re feeling generous, you might end up sharing the succulent bistecca alla Fiorentina with your companion, who’ll also appreciate the silver dog bowl.

As well as being dog-friendly, Brutto also has bones to take home to your dog.

St. John Bread and Wine, Clerkenwell

Chef Fergus Henderson is credited with pioneering the now ubiquitous nose-to-tail dining philosophy, and his signature bone marrow dish will grab your dog’s attention. You’ll be welcomed into the bar area with your pooch and it’s highly likely the dog loving staff will serve your pup a portion of their famed dish, so you don’t need to surreptitiously feed them under the table.

Duck & Rice, Soho

This casual Chinese joint welcomes dogs of all shapes and sizes, providing any four-legged visitors with a bowl of water, a generous portion of treats and plenty of fuss from the staff. It’s one of very few Chinese restaurants in London which allow dogs, while puppy parents will surely be tempted by the menu of comfort food dishes – think sesame prawn toast, chicken Katsu curry, and of course, various combinations of duck and rice.

Outside on the terrace, the staff at Bluebird on the King’s Road proffer dog blankets for any four-legged guests. They also allow dogs into the bar area upstairs, so dog owners can enjoy cocktails and a range of bar snacks. Look out for the occasional dog brunches too in partnership with Love My Human every few months.

The menu is the result of a collaboration between the bar’s mixology team and a specialist canine nutritionist – only the best for your trusted companion.

Every Shake Shack location has a specially created menu for dogs, with treats such as Pooch-ini, a pup-friendly vanilla custard with peanut butter sauce and a red velvet dog biscuit by Bocce’s Bakery. The red velvet biscuits can also be bought separately and taken home.
