Urban Elephant 2023: Your Essential Guide for a Weekend of Culture and Fun

The Urban Elephant Festival 2023 festival is here, and it's set to paint Elephant and Castle with a vivid tapestry of culture, music, and art! From today, September 15th, all the way through to Sunday, the festival promises an unforgettable experience. If you're planning to dive into this whirlwind of festivities on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday, here's your insider's guide to make the most of it.

A Weekend of Diverse Fun

Starting at Castle Square and cruising through Elephant Park, Sayer Street, and Walworth Square, this festival is a celebration of our city's rich mix of cultures. Supported by Southwark Council, Get Living, Lendlease, Notting Hill Genesis, and North Walworth Councillors, Urban Elephant 2023 is your chance to join the local crew and share in the different traditions expressed through cool performances.

A Lineup to Remember

From Peruvian dances to Somali melodies and jaw-dropping acrobatics, this festival will keep you on your toes. You'll catch a glimpse of Eritrea's tribal dances, feel the beats from Colombia and Latin America, and groove to North Indian Kathak. Plus, don't miss the fusion of Swedish-Ecuadorian sounds with a touch of jazz and R&B.

Festival Highlights

Friday, September 15th, starts at Castle Square with an 'Art in the Park' workshop, setting the stage for a day of mind-blowing performances. Saturday follows the theme of 'World on a Street,' uniting different communities across multiple squares. The festival wraps up on Sunday with a World Forum at Elephant Park's Tree House, offering a meaningful opportunity for cross-cultural connections.

Foodie Paradise

The traders at Castle Square and Elephant Park are bringing you a global feast! From Guyanese and Caribbean to Colombian, Italian, and Chinese, there's something to satisfy every craving.

John Whelan, Urban Elephant Creative Director, says: "We have a thrilling lineup confirmed for Urban Elephant Festival 2023. The weekend will be a wonderful opportunity to mingle with friends from different cultures and celebrate through art, dance, and music."
