Ultimate London Spots To Welcome In Spring

After a long winter, it seems like spring is finally here. The gloom of January and February have given way to some warmer days as flowers are starting to bloom. The birds are singing and the end of lockdown seems to be ever closer. Take a look at some of the top spots in the city to witness the first signs of spring.

Cannizzaro Park

 Head south-west to wander on Wimbledon Common and take in the crocuses in Cannizzaro Park. This time of year is especially stunning with spring flowers in abundance against the backdrop of the picturesque stately home, Cannizarro House.

Richmond Park

South-west London is a hotspot for beautiful parklands and none more memorable than the famed Richmond Park. Look out for deer roaming the grounds and visit the Isabella Plantation to enjoy the bluebells in late April. The 40-acre expanse of woodland garden bursts into life at this time of year making it the perfect spot to escape the city.

Hyde Park

 Hyde Park is one of London’s oldest and well-loved parks. The largest in Central London, this green space has been part of the city landscape since the reign of Henry VIII. Take in the many memorials and statues dotted around the expansive grounds and make sure to keep an eye out for ducklings and cygnets as you stroll around the Serpentine.

Olympic Park 

The Olympic Park sits in a heavily urbanised part of East London but boasts many lush parklands and waterways. A lot of the park’s venues and outdoor gym facilities remain closed due to the pandemic but the sculptures and interesting architecture remain. Highlights include living walls, a modern interpretation of the Bayeux Tapestry and the nine feet high ‘RUN’ sculpture by artist Monica Bomvinci.

Greenwich Park

Take in 360 views of the sprawling city at this stunning South London park. A popular stroll takes you across the park into Blackheath where you feel like you’ve truly escaped the bustle of the city. If you visit in April make sure to wander through the cherry tree avenue…one for the gram.
