Fervor Festival is here to start a Blaze of Spoken Word, Cabaret, Drag, Music + Art this August
As you probably already know, we love a London festival here at London Living Blog. It was music to our ears therefore, when we heard about this brand new creative arts festival coming to Kennington this August, called Fervor Festival.
Hosted at Toulouse Lautrec Jazz Club, an intimate Brasserie & Wine Bar in Kennington which pays tribute to one of France's most flamboyant artists and is brimming with bohemian charm, Fervor will bring spoken word, cabaret, drag and music to London.
The Creators
FERVOR festival co-founder Founder, Joly a.k.a. Joly Licks, is a poet, writer, performer, curator - spreading the word that “Creativity is a Guarantee of Sanity!” Since October 2018, she has been developing events to showcase multi-discipline artists and to ignite joy amongst audiences; from Canada to Sweden, Hong Kong to Berlin. This festival is something she has been dreaming of for some time and she can’t wait to introduce you to exceptional talent, right here in London Town. Irish-born Mark T Cox is a performer, producer, host and self-proclaimed international cabaret star! Since landing in London in 2016, Mark has expanded his practice to include curation and production, developing a range of cabaret events across the East End, as well as performing internationally in Belgium, Taiwan, Japan …and of course Ireland. As co-founder of FERVOR festival, Mark aims to bring together London’s best artists and entertainers to reignite the capital this summer!
The two have partnered up to bring us this exciting program of creative events, from award-winning spoken word, the best cabaret in the capital and fabulous musical guests - saying ‘we’re here for all the staycationers, hard core London lovers, and those who dare to join the FERVOR!

Cushion the Blow Presents The Fervor Festival Party!
A Spoken Word Cabaret from Joly Licks and Ella the Great launches the month long Fervor Festival! Expect an out of this world event, to set the Fervor Festival alight! You’ll be treated to an immersive experience covering two floors of Toulouse Lautrec. roaming performers, a poetry workshop and tarot readings.

Fervor Music Fridays kicks off with BBC Introducing 2022 ‘Future Headliner’ and ‘One to Watch’ WINNIE AMA! Special support from AIS. Expect an evening of original jazz/soul inspired electronic alt RnB pop written and performed by Winnie Ama and her band, plus original modern arrangements of some jazz standards and contemporary musical masterpieces.
Support - Dublin born, AIS is a rising star with a great sound, making her London debut earlier in May, we’re delighted to have her back in the Big Smoke and bringing the fire on stage in support of Winnie with hit tracks ‘Shine On’ and dance anthem, ‘Glitter Gold.

Fervor Festival - Spoken Word Thursdays presents an Evening with Salena Godden - one of the most prolific poets of our time both on stage and page. Join for an exclusive audience with the activist, broadcaster, essayist and memoirist as she delves into the inner workings of Godden's creativity, what it was like to publish her critically-acclaimed novel, Mrs Death Misses Death, discover what the future holds and of course, be treated to a private reading. There will also be a mini line-up of Joly Licks favourite poets prior to the main event.

Suedejazz Collective are a multicultural family of musicians meeting together to create, connect and mix the dots from contemporary jazz with worldwide influences hailing from the souls of its current and past collaborators. Our Soul (say it loud, say it clear, say it in your sister’s ear) is the fourth musical comedy show to come out of Funny Women Winner Harriet Braine. Viewers can expect some historical baddies, some home truths about turning 30, a HUGE twist at the end, and some actual jokes this time. (Work in progress) Harriet Braine is a multi-award-winning musical comedian who has performed songs about dead people all over the UK and abroad.
Alongside gigging at comedy clubs, she regularly performs with Irish cabaret superstars Xnthony and Mark T Cox, has dipped her toe into the podcasting world with Bec Hill and Dr Lucy Rogers, and now brings her new solo show, “Our Soul” to Fervor Festival.

Fervor’s Saturday night cabaret hosted by international piano toy boy Mark T Cox.
Each week, the hottest cabaret stars come to the Fervor stage. Expect drag, music, puppetry, sex, laughs and tears! This week there will be a Belgian extravaganza with LA VEUVE and EVE IS SICK OF ADAM. LA VEUVE is a maneater - literally. Deliciously caustic, hairy and sarcastic, her beard is as sharp as her tongue and she takes the femme fatale concept to the next level. EVE IS SICK OF ADAM was born at Cabaret Mademoiselle, Brussels. Combining drag, illustration and puppetry, to create subversive, poetic, weird and badass lip sync performances, she will invite you to question your idea of beauty.

Fervor Festival presents an evening of original music with cellist/singer/composer Midori Jaegar, with special support from Genevieve Dawson.With shades of Fiona Apple and Laurie Anderson, you'll be utterly transported by Midori's unique sound, producing and releasing new music since 2019, we can't get enough of her latest EP: 'See Touch Kick and Sweat'
Support - Genevieve Dawson is a songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from Scotland and now based in south-east London.Her debut album, Letters I Won’t Send, self produced and recorded in a church, was released in 2020 and was featured on Tom Robinson’s Mixtape, BBC Radio London, Jazz FM, Gideon Coe and Guy Garvey BBC 6 Music shows. Currently seen performing at the Royal Shakespeare's Globe and recording new music.

MicroActs is a program of short films, 6 minutes or less, exploring concentrated storytelling through moving image.From bold political expression to delicate personal memories to abstract experimental collages; MicroActs aim to create a thought-provoking, informative and diverse afternoon of film.
Founded in 2017 by artist and filmmaker Liberty Antonia Sadler, MicroActs now brings a special afternoon matinee screening to Fervor Festival featuring a collection of the ‘best of the best’.

PI THE MIME and their considerably more verbal doppelganger MERCURY PRESENTS are internationally recognised, award-winning Cabaret Creations by Alexander Luttley. Pi is the all dancing clown to balance Mercury's all singing show numbers. Both creations are described as 5% suave and 95% total raging idiot with a desire to make their audience think and feel.

Rounding off an epic season of Fervor Music Fridays, the incredible Stina Wollter and Micke Olsson Wollter for an exclusive duo gig.
Stina Wollter has been a staple of Swedish culture from her art, books, popular radio show, advocacy and their music. The singer has a beautiful bluesy sound influenced by guitarist, composer Micke Olsson Wollter. The Fervor team was first introduced to Stina's music when they discovered her self-love anthem 'Leave My Shame' off of their debut album: Garden Songs (2018)
